On Family - Mon, Jan 13, 2025

I woke up this morning to a sick girl. It's nothing serious, something in the stomach that seems like it will be over in a day or two, but she wasn't feeling well today.

Normally I'm the one who absorbs such interruptions - as a writer, it's easier for me than for my wife, but given the early morning wake-up, my beautiful wife volunteered to spend the day with our daughter, hoping to get some rest, as well.

My wife is always awesome, but it's on days like today I'm reminded of just how much. She was the one who let me go full time ten years ago, trusting my ability to earn a living with my words even as we were trying to start a family. It's her encouragement that has kept me going in the dark times. She's the one who makes sure I get enough time to write every day.

Every book I write has a whole host of people behind it, from the cover designers to the editors, and I appreciate them all. You might be reading my words, but they're only on the page because of all the people supporting me.

Happy Monday all,

Ryan
